|SOG| Tactical

SOG Tactical is a gaming clan that formed in 2003 for a Ghost Recon Tournament, and have progressed through various FPS games over the years. The Call of Duty series is currently our game of choice. We get together to play games from all over the world (both coasts, England and Germany), we are a pretty tight-knit and friendly bunch – join us for some quality games. We're here to have fun, and we hope you are, too.

FAQs

Here are some FAQs that may answer some typical questions:

What Does SOG stand for?
Strategic Operations Group, so we are commonly referred to as SOGgers. If we are having a particularly bad day we're SOGgies (lol).

What is tactical play?
Basically, using strategy and communication (a must!), you play as a team to accomplish your objectives – no lone wolf, no rambo, no run and gun like the majority of other multiplayer games and servers.  You can read our server rules here.

Why all the restrictions?
To make players more inclined to play tactically, we have modded our servers to slow down running, to add recoil to guns, injury from jumping from too high, etc. If you don't do it in real-life, you don't do it in game. If you don't like that kind of game play, no problem, there are plenty of other servers to choose from.

What games have you played, or are playing?
We played most of the Tom Clancy-based games – Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, Rogue Spear, Athena Sword, etc. We played around with Battlefield 1942, and some America's Army and then moved to Call of Duty and then to Call of Duty 2. Now with the Intel Macs, many of us can dual-boot into Windows to play some games not yet available on the Mac, like Call of Duty 4.

What do I need to play?
A computer, a microphone or headset (preferred), the game we are playing (mostly CoD2), as well as using Teamspeex (TS) for the Mac or TeamSpeak (TS) for the PC, so we can communicate in-game.

What are the server addresses?
Our TeamSpeak server is: ts44.gameservers.com:8788 (password bravo6)
Our CoD2 server is: 63.215.74.133

When do you play?
Our standard game nights are Monday and Thursday, but we usually have the server occupied every night between 5 and 8 pm (PST). Try popping onto our TeamSpeak server or just jump into the game. Many of us hang out on TS, to see if people are around to play.

Do you only play on your server?
Nope. We play on several other tactical servers like the 1st RTB, 509th, Holyland, and Tactical Gamer. You can find these servers on your in-game browser or contact us and we'll pass 'em onto you.

Are you looking for new recruits?
We're always open to new members. The best way to do this is to play with us consistently for a while (and we don't mean a couple of days), so we get an idea of your style of play and if you can follow the rules. Then ask to join us and we'll take it up at the next board meeting – only kidding. We'll knock it around and let you know.

A SOGger's X-Mas

'Twas the night before Christmas and all over the map,
not a soldier was stirring, not even BigDog's yap.

Ballard was sniping from the chimney with care,
In the hope that his enemy soon would be there.

Vir2L was throwing nades to the left and to the right,
Effortlessly blowing up opfors trying to take flight.

Cypto was complaining that it wasn't fair,
That he just got shot from way over there.

MACH was bouncing up and bouncing down,
To avoid being shot and causing us to frown.

MAD MAX was storming through, street by street,
Mowing down his enemies, an amazing feat.

Though ZiPpo was bashed while staunching his blood,
He just respawned and said "It's all good."

And UnKNown with his silver hair and water pipe,
tried to pass himself off as St. Nick – that's no hype!

While Sparrow easily took out a guy as he ran,
he said, "Merry Christmas to all and Peace Out, man."

Merry Christmas!
